The Coven sees to the Phoenix’ quick exit that Thane and Thanos may fight fairly. It obviously wasn’t a long fight as Thane has never been as strong as his father. But Thanos does not kill Thane, instead he drops him into the Quarry to live out his own personal hell. This was kind of an underwhelming ending to such an epic story.
