I have to confess that I’ve never read my father’s works as extensively or intensively as some might have, which is why my preface isn’t going to about him as an author (though there is plenty of praise and credit to be given) but rather, him as a father. My dad always knew the right things to say. He was an amazingly smooth talker. If he was my age and sweet-talked me the way he does to my mother, I think I’d have fallen for him too. Needless to say, I can definitely see why my mother fell for his charming wiles years ago despite the age gap.
